LFTSA Brochure 2019-20

Dear Colleague

I hope you will find this brochure helpful in keeping you up to date with all that Luton First Teaching Alliance is offering our schools this term and beyond. Just a reminder that the Department For Education and the Teaching Schools’ Council, expect Teaching Alliances to focus their work and support around 3 key areas:
1. Coordinating and delivering high quality school-based Initial Teacher Training.
2. Providing a high quality school improvement support programme.
3. Providing a high quality professional development programme for teachers and leaders.

We are keen to ensure we can support you in your efforts to improve pupil attainment and narrow the achievement gap for disadvantaged pupils. To this end, we always welcome your views and suggestions on the kind of programmes which you would find most helpful in bringing these improvements about.

We have been working closely with the Local Authority (LA) to develop a team of Local Leaders of Education who we can deploy to schools in need of support. In addition, we have recently appointed five specialist leaders in education to support our on-going commitment to school improvement.

This year, we will continue to award up to £500 for research projects. If this is of interest to you or a colleague, please get in touch with Tony Cotton on 07960 870464 for further details. As you may well be aware, we welcome all schools as associate members of the alliance but if you know a colleague who might be interested in getting more closely involved, please ask them to get in touch with Tony Cotton or myself.

Have a great year.

Dear Colleague

I hope you will find this brochure helpful in keeping you up to date with all that Luton First Teaching Alliance is offering our schools this term and beyond. Just a reminder that the National College of Teaching and Leadership expect Teaching Alliances to focus their work and support on the so called ‘Big 3’ (reduced from the big 6!) which are:

1. coordinating and delivering high quality school-based Initial Teacher Training
2. providing high quality school-to-school support to spread excellent practice, particularly to schools that need it most
3. providing evidence-based professional and leadership development for teachers and leaders across their network

We are keen to ensure we can support you in your efforts to improve pupil attainment and narrow the achievement gap for disadvantaged pupils. To this end, we always welcome your views and suggestions on the kind of programmes which you would find most helpful in bringing these improvements about.

Don’t forget, we are working closely with the Local Authority (LA) to develop a team of Local Leaders of Education who the LA can confidently deploy to schools in need of support. I would encourage you to make an application; appointments and training to be confirmed this term.
